Other conservation and research activities
PortugalThe most relevant action undertaken in the last three years was the development of a field programme with the objective of evaluating the present conservation status of the species. This project was started in 2000 and the expected results are: 1. the revision of the 1996 Action Plan; 2. the implementation of the management measures found to be necessary. To achieve the above mentioned results the following actions were put into the field: (1) nest counting and mapping; (2) evaluation of nest occupancy rates; (3) Evaluation the present situation in what regards the threats referred at the 1996 Action plan (erosion, goats, rabbits, Cory's shearwater; and others (4) Estimates of population size.
